What is an RT-PCR?

An RT-PCR (reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction) test is a viral, molecular test that detects genetic material from a particular organism – in this case the COVID-19 virus.

After your RT-PCR test appointment, your sample is taken to one of our labs to be processed. Results timelines can vary from site to site due to transport and volume (please see our testing location pages for further details).
